A listener asked which AI tools to learn first. His real question was somewhere else.

The red light came on. A senior executive had written in asking which AI tools he should learn first. I started to answer. Dr. Zdenka Cumano raised one finger off the table. “Read the second paragraph again.”
In it, almost as an aside, he wrote that his team was using these tools faster than he was, and that he had stopped asking questions in meetings. “He isn’t asking about tools,” she said. “He’s afraid he’s becoming obsolete.”
We spent the segment on the second paragraph. By the end the answer about tools was obvious. Start anywhere.
I had thirty years of pattern recognition, and I still missed the point until a partner with a different kind of mind pointed at it.
